Why mockups work

Cold email is a curiosity game. The prospect's brain decides in ~2 seconds whether to read past line one. Plain text triggers “another vendor pitch.” A specific, visual, already-built-for-them artifact triggers “wait, what?” - which is the only reaction that gets you a reply.

The mockup also flips the negotiation. You're no longer asking “will you hire me?” - you're asking “is this the right direction?”, which is a much smaller commitment.

How to scaffold a mockup in 5 minutes

Common mockup mistakes

1. Stock photos.Always pull at least one real photo from the prospect's Google Business listing. Stock immediately reads “template.”

2. Wrong brand color.The AI generator auto-picks a niche-appropriate color. If you go custom, glance at the prospect's logo or signage and match the dominant tone. Generic blue mocks reply at half the rate.

3. Generic hero copy.“Welcome to [Business]” reads as filler. Lead with the prospect's strongest signal: their Google rating, their location, their specialty. The mockup tool does this automatically.
